What is nutrigenetics?

Nutrigenetics is the study of how a person's genetic makeup affects their response to different nutrients and foods.  Nutrigenetics allows us to question and understand many areas of our health and family history – for example;

Why one person can drink coffee all day without issues, while another gets jittery after one cup.

Why one person finds it hard to clear histamine from their body, resulting in symptoms of itching and hives.

Why one person has poor resilience in stressful situations

Why someone might be prone to oestrogen dominant conditions, such as endometriosis or fibroids.

Why someone may have experienced lifelong sleep difficulties or low mood.

How genetics might be contributing to one person’s ADHD symptoms.

Why someone is prone to higher appetite and weight gain.

Why there is a strong family history of autoimmune disease or underactive thyroid disease.

These differences can often be explained by genetics, but only in combination with environmental influences.

Genetics is the gun, the environment is the trigger

Through advanced nutrigenetic testing and analysis, we can determine your unique genetic profile. This revolutionary approach helps you to optimise your nutrition, health and support longevity.

I'm Nathalie

Nutrigenetic Councellor (NgC)

Nathalie originally trained with Genesnippers, and completed Nutrigenetics - A Functional Medicine Approach to Genetics, with Anne Pemberton - a highly respected Nutrigenetics practitioner. Nathalie has also completed training with Lifecode Gx and works closely with both Lifecode Gx and Lifestyle Genomics for reporting. Nathalie continues to research and train in nutrigenetics and has over ten years of experience in this field.

A competent nutrigenetics practitioner will not 'treat’ or 'supplement' based on a gene variant, rather they will use the information to empower, gain knowledge and offer understanding.  Genetic testing is best used in conjunction with other metabolite testing, and always a though understanding of the patient’s history and current health concerns.

How it works

Step 1 : Book your discovery call

Please take advantage of a free 15-minute discovery call to learn more about the genetic consultation process and to ask any questions you might have.  At this stage, advice cannot be offered but it’s a great opportunity to see if we are the right fit and to understand your goals.

Step 2 : Book your consultation and complete the required intake forms

You will be required to complete several forms to help understand your health history, lifestyle and eating habits.

Step 3 : Complete your genetic testing

At your initial consultation, Nathalie will determine the genetic reports that would be most useful for you, based on your goals, family history and health concerns.  Testing is quick and easy, requiring a saliva sample.

Step 4 : Receive your genetic report with interpretation.

This will be sent to you a week before your follow up appointment, to  allow you to read the report and be ready with any questions you have at your follow up.

Step 5 : Follow up consultation

In your follow up consultation, Nathalie will explain the main areas of interest from the report and will also suggest dietary, lifestyle and supplement recommendations as part of a Functional Medicine approach.

Step 6 : Beyond the genetic package….

On going guidance and adjustments can be made during follow up sessions.  Nathalie will explain if you may benefit from functional medicine testing to compliment the genetic testing.
